About

The original idea behind Looking for Words was to present Second Language Acquisition (SLA), linguistics, and translation theory in an easy-to-digest format. Although my own interpretations and conclusions are presented, the main goal is for teachers and students alike to be able take this information and apply it to their own practices. As it is also relevant, some articles will occasionally be publish on being an expat.

I have been a translator since 2006 (ES>EN and RU>EN) and a foreign language instructor since 2008, both as a one-on-one tutor and classroom teacher. From 2008-2011, I worked as a project coordinator and editor for the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, where I was familiarized with proficiency guidelines, language testing, and text typology. Since 2011, I have been teaching English and Spanish and as of 2014, I have been employed full-time as an in-house translator.
